Ittiam's IP video phone
reference design offers an embedded software framework along with a
hardware demonstration and application development platform.
It is a complete, integrated design offering
full duplex audio and video phone functions for broadband IP
networks. The reference system is powered by Texas Instrument's
DM642™ processor and includes all the necessary on-board
components for consumer-ready video-communications. |

The software
is a modularized package of audio and video processing functions,
VoIP call control protocols and network protocols integrated by a
common framework and running on a single processor. Video processing
is designed to support industry leading video technologies with the
first release based on MPEG-4 simple profile capable of full motion
video up-to 30fps at VGA resolution. This will be soon followed by a
H.264 based solution. Voice processing supports a wide range of
speech codecs for narrow and wide band voice, acoustic echo
canceller for hands free speakerphone and associated telephony and
signaling functions. An adaptive jitter buffer provides enhanced
quality with various network conditions. The framework, overall
modular architecture and application specific interface (API) are
designed to support wide range of video and voice standards such as
H.263, H.264, WMVc in video and ITU-T and ETSI in voice, catering
to varying application needs. It also enables easy integration with
any networking and signaling components.
The
hardware is a
full-featured, flexible reference platform based on
TMS320DM642™
digital signal processor from Texas Instruments. It is available in a real-life-usage form factor with alphanumeric keypad, on-board speaker, microphone, camera and 6.4" LCD display complete with Ethernet, wireless LAN, USB and IrDA interface. The platform supports a range of storage devices including hard disk drives and those with CardBus interface. |
